Planning to attend SLA 2013 in San Diego? Want to be part of something different? See http://bit.ly/GeekSubmit to submit a proposal to participate in the IT Division’s Speed Geek. Presenters will have table space for a laptop and handouts. Like a poster session, presenters stay put while attendees go from table to table to see what you have to show. You can demo a new service or project, show how your library uses social media, or let visitors try out an unusual product. Be creative! The idea is to provide interaction, personal connection, and exposure to a large number of different projects in a short amount of time. Oh, and it’s fun!
Proposal submission will be open until spots fill up, so act fast. Contact kraemer@email.uky.edu if you have questions. No need to be an IT Division member to present.

Outgoing IT Division Chair, Leslie Reynolds, bids adieu in Volume 29, Number 4, the latest issue of b/ITe, the bulletin of SLA’s Information Technology Division. We also welcome a few new officers and continue to solicit more volunteers.
This is the second issue to be presented in a new streamlined HTML format that includes a hyperlinked table of contents and loads quickly on the new WordPress website. However, if you prefer, you may download and read the entire issue as a PDF file.
This is my last issue. It’s been a pleasure serving you as editor. Many thanks to Leslie Reynolds who offered me the opportunity and also to Henry Mensch for taking on the role of b/ITe editor in 2013. Please join me in welcoming Henry!

A review of the recent annual conference in Chicago is the theme of Volume 29, Number 3, the latest issue of b/ITe, the bulletin of SLA’s Information Technology Division. Also included is the Jo Ann Clifton Student Award winning paper, “Metadata for Video: Too Much Content, Not Enough Information,” by Wayne Pender of McGill University.
This is the first issue to be presented in a new streamlined HTML format that includes a hyperlinked table of contents and loads quickly on the new WordPress website. However, if you prefer, you may download and read the entire issue as a PDF.
I’m happy to announce that Henry Mensch, who has been assisting with the migration of old archival content to the new WP platform, will be taking over as b/ITe editor. He and I will work together on the next issue and he will take the reigns in 2013. Please join me in welcoming Henry!
